Welcome to Hippy's Hideout
Psychedelic Animated Bar
Hiya, and welcome to my pad. Hope you enjoy your stay. Pretty much, what I'm going to attempt to do here is to let you know a little about me and my family, as well as some of my likes and dislikes. Eventually I will have a free graphics page, and a midi page, and maybe a few others. I dunno yet. I have small children, and it's taken me quite some time to get just this page up and running. *haha*

OK - I guess I gotta tell you about myself. I'm assuming that you are somewhat interested, since you DID come to my website. My name is Gina, and I am 33 years old. I have a great family that I am very proud of. I have a wonderful fiance named Don. Don and I met on the internet 4 years ago, after both having just been relieved of "somewhat stressful" relationships. We met on a chat program called ICQ. (Farther on down the page, I will include a link to ICQ). When we first got together, we had tough times, but we worked through them, and now we are both incredibly happy and content. He has shown me many things in life that I didn't even know existed, and has bestowed upon me the power and the knowledge to be a better mother, a better person and a better, more productive member of society. My life was quite insignificant until I met him. I was miserable, and not a very good mother or person, and for that, I am sorry. But with his gifts of knowledge, patience and love, he has shown me how to follow my true path, and for that, I am infinitely grateful. Honey, I adore you, and thank you for giving me back my life.

Hmm.... what could you possibly want to know about me that wouldn't bore you to death? I love music. I love playing music and singing, and I also love listening to music. Eventually I want to go back to college and study music, just so I can learn how to play lots of different instruments. I love listening to all different kinds of music. I guess my absolute favorite kind of music is classic rock, because that's what I grew up with. However, I also love the blues, classical music and good ole' foot-stompin' gospel music. I like some country, but not that "crying in your beer" stuff and I like some top-40 stuff. I have a pretty good voice, and I do OK on the piano, and have a few performances that will stay with me forever. Although I eventually would like to start a "garage band", right now I am content with singing to Don and the babies, and singing in the shower. *haha*

Things I love: Well, first and foremost, there is God and my family. I love long walks on the beach, late at night... I love reading, the Far Side, smoking a cigarette right after I brush my teeth, long road trips with no particular destination in mind, playing cards, shopping, waterfalls, snow peas, the Three Stooges, thunderstorms, the smell of fresh-cut grass, chinese food, Calvin and Hobbes, the sound of rain on a tin roof and any movie with Julia Roberts.

Things I hate:Racism, drunk drivers, people who complain about everything, English peas, people who think that they are better than you because they are more attractive or have more money, liars, the smell of a cigar or a pipe, my ex-sister-in-law Kim, parents who take their children out in public with dirty faces and unkempt hair, Bill Clinton, infidelity, abortion doctors and those idiots who go around bombing abortion clinics and killing abortion doctors (hey, I don't like them, but killing the doctors makes about as much sense as abortion itself), Jane "Hanoi Jane" Fonda, rap music (but is it really music?) charity rip-offs and any movie with John Goodman or Andie McDowell (she just ruined "Four Weddings and a Funeral").

Things that I think are great! (and make me wonder how we ever got along without them):

Microwave ovens, the internet, call waiting, VCRs, cordless phones, cruise control, new and improved DNA testing that sometimes proves the innocence of people who have been wrongly convicted and incarcerated, pre-paid phone cards and remote controls (yeah, I do get ours from time to time)

Things that I hate! (and make me wonder what idiot came up with them): the "A" bomb, assault weapons, any type of cloning at ALL (QUIT playing God. Just because you CAN do it doesn't mean you SHOULD do it), "Agent Orange", armor-piercing bullets and ALL legal technicalities that allow criminals to walk free.

OK. I realize that I have some pretty strong opinions about some things, and for that I will not apologize. I will, however, offer this. I look at things differently than alot of people, and I understand that you do as well. Just because I am against something does not necessarily mean that I will tell you that YOU shouldn't do it. I am against abortion for any reason whatsoever, but that doesn't mean that I am going to tell you that you shouldn't do it. I am against homosexuality, but I am not going to tell you that you shouldn't do it. Everyone has to follow their own path. I do not have to stand before God for what YOU do - only myself. For that reason, I follow my beliefs, and I try to instill my beliefs in my children. Once they are adults, they can make their own choices. I try to teach tolerance, but also try to instill the morals that they need, and also the independance they need to follow their own paths. For example: Do you remember a while back when Jerry Falwell started an "Anti Tinky-Winky" crusade, saying that the purple Teletubby "Tinky Winky" was gay? Well, so what. He probably is. There have been some very convincing arguments to support his claim. But you know what? So what if that character is gay? In today's society, we have to teach tolerance to our children. I don't believe that homosexuality is right, but whether it is right or wrong, it is part of our society, so as a mother, I have to teach my children that, even though I feel that it is wrong, they are still human beings who have every right to be treated as such. Just because they have a different belief structure than we do does not make them wrong - only different than we are. I am not one to stand up in someone's face and say WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS WRONG! Because I don't know! I very well may be wrong myself in my beliefs - but they are just that - my beliefs. I was raised by God-fearing Christians who tried to show me the difference between what they felt was right and wrong, and now that is my job to pass on to my children. Discrimination in any form is wrong, no matter what your feelings are. I hope I am making sense in all this, and I hope I'm not stumbling over my own words here. Basically what I am trying to say is this - just because I don't believe in something does not mean that I am going to judge you on what you do. Voltaire once said, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." Discrimination and intolerance in society are wrong. Don't pre-judge, just because you don't like something. Everyone deserves the right to happiness, whether or not we think it is right in the eyes of God or society. That is not our place to say. We have to be tolerant of everyone, no matter what their skin color, religion, or lifestyle. Let me get off my soap-box for awhile. *haha* Wanna meet my kids? *grin*

I have 3 beautiful daughters, and two very handsome stepsons. I'll introduce you to them in order of their ages.

Charles is 18, and is into music and gaming. He enjoys playing Pokemon and Magic: The Gathering. While we were living in Alabama, he ranked 4th in the state, top 20 in the country and top 50 in the world playing Magic: The Gathering. He is quite good. He enjoys playing bass guitar, also. Charles now lives on his own, so he doesn't have as much free time as he did before, but his dad and I are very proud of him and his accomplishments. Keep up the good work, sweetie.

Johnnie is 16, and also plays bass in a punk band. He is quite good from what I've heard through the grapevine, but he won't let us sit in on a practice yet. *haha* He enjoys action movies, and watches anything that deals with martial arts. Johnnie also plays basketball, and before he became involved in his new band, he wanted to play for the NBA (and he had a chance, because he is good), but now he wants to be a musician. Also, Johnnie is half-Korean, and is quite proud of his heritage.

Tabitha is 14, and it seems at times that her entire world revolves around listening to the radio or watching MTV. She loves Backstreet Boys, N-Sync and Savage Garden, just to name a few. She loves roller-blading and talking on the phone, and dying her hair different colors every month. *haha* This month, she has black hair, and next month, she's going back to burgundy, we think. If I'm not mistaken, her natural color is brown, but it's been so long since we've seen it, I'm not exactly sure. I guess she is a little young to be dying her hair, but at least it's a normal color - not green or blue (but don't kid yourself - she has asked) and she has no piercings or tattoos, so we let her run with it. *haha*

Rayne is two and a half, and the most adventurous child I have had the pleasure (?) of knowing. She loves Teletubbies, Elmo, Blue's Clues, and basically anything on Nick Jr. She's a fussy eater, and loves to scream if she doesn't get her way. Fortunately (at times) and unfortunately (at others) she is very smart. She loves for mommy to play "Ippy Ippy" (Itsy-Bitsy Spider) with her, and knows all the words to "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". She can count to 9, but only when she wants to. On the downside, though, she has learned how to open the "child safety gates", to keep her in a certain part of the house. For this, we have to be extra careful, and always keep a close eye on her.

Annabelle is the baby, the littlest sister. She's 8 months old, and a true joy. She rarely cries, and only gets fussy when she's hungry, wet or cold. She has beautiful white blond hair and huge blue eyes, and two teeth. *grin* She also loves Teletubbies, and will sit for an hour or more and watch them, and grin when she sees something funny. She doesn't have too many likes and dislikes yet, but one thing is certain - she hates English Peas (and who can blame her?)
